Almond Resorts, the Barbados all-inclusive chain, has doubled its resort holdings in the Caribbean with the acquisition of two new resort hotels -- Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort on St. Lucia and Almond Casuarina Beach Resort on Barbados. These acquisitions follow the completion of a $15-million refurbishment program and a further $15-million investment in an expansion that is currently underway at Almond Beach Village, one of the resort group's existing hotels. The acquisition brings the number of resorts in the group's portfolio up to four, with a total number of 1,271 rooms available to vacationers by 2006. Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort is currently open and Almond Casuarina Beach Resort is due to open in 2006.

St. Lucia is the first new destination outside of the group's home in Barbados, where it has operated two top resorts, the Almond Beach Village and Almond Beach Club and Spa, for over a decade. Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort features six swimming pools, three of which have children's sections; a fitness center; range of water sports with free tuition available; three a la carte gourmet restaurants; four bars all serving premium brand drinks and cocktails; a Kid's Club that caters for newborn babies and children up to the age of 16 years old with programs designed to keep children of all ages entertained; and a full service amenity spa with treatments including massages, facials, manicures and hydrotherapy treatments, (at an additional price). Almond Casuarina Beach Resort is situated on Dover Beach on the south coast of Barbados, close to Saint Lawrence Gap. Facilities will include three swimming pools; a fitness center and tennis courts; a range of water sports with free tuition; a Kid's Club; three a la carte restaurants; four bars all serving premium brand drinks and cocktails; a full-service spa with treatments available at a locally payable cost.
