Puerto Rico is considered a United States territory and does not require a passport for travel. However, All Inclusive Outlet recommends the use of a passport for US Citizens traveling to this area. A change of intinerary/destination due to unforeseen circumstances or a disruption in the airline schedule may result in travel to areas that require a passport.
All travelers between the U.S. and the Caribbean are required to carry passports beginning January 1, 2007 as mandated by the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. Necessary Documents
- Original Passport
- For non-U.S. citizens, a declaration certifying a single status must be sworn before a Notary Public or other authorized personnel. This declaration must accompany the application.
- Proof of Status- If divorced, proof of Decree Absolute is required. If a Widow/Widower, the Death Certificate with a raised seal must be presented before the marriage license is granted.
- Medical certificate from a physician in Puerto Rico certifying a VDRL blood test.
- A doctor in Puerto Rico must sign the marriage license after examining the bride and groom.
- The Marriage License Bureau must authenticate all documents.
Restrictions
- The bride and groom must appear at the City Court office to purchase a marriage license.
- Those under the age of between the ages of 16 and 17 must have the consent of parents or legal guardians to marry.
- A blood test is required.
- Divorces must be finalized in the country or state granted.
- The Marriage License Bureau must authenticate all documents.
Fees
- The Judicial Center offers free ceremonies. Private or hotel ceremonies average around $150-$350 (U.S.) and can be set up by your hotel.
