Entry Requirements
All travelers between the U.S. and the Caribbean will be required to carry passports beginning January 1, 2007 as mandated by the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. We encourage you to begin the passport application processes early to avoid unexpected delays. Travelers should allow a minimum of six weeks between their application submission and receipt of passport. Passports can be expedited for an additional fee. A single 30 day visit to the Turks and Caicos is renewable one time and all visits require roundtrip airfare.
Foreign residents of the United States and all other foreign visitors not holding a US Passport must contact the appropriate government authorities to determine the entry and visa requirements.
Departure Tax
A departure tax of $35 is required for all travelers over the age of 2. Departure tax is subject to change.
What to Wear
Lightweight shirts and shorts are best suited to the year-round climate. Occasionally, light sweaters and jackets may be needed during the winter season. While most restaurants are informal, some may require jackets for men and evening-wear for ladies. Resort restaurants typically require a collared shirt and long pants for men and island casual for women.
Currency
The official currency of Turks and Caicos is the U.S. dollar. Most vendors within the resort areas accept traveler’s cheques and credit cards. And local banks provide cash advances and access to ATM’s. The standard tip for waiters, taxi drivers, porters and maids is 15%.
Customs
The following duty-free goods may be brought into Turks and Caicos: 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes, 1.136 liters of spirits or wine and perfume. There are no restrictions on cameras, film or sports equipment- with the exception of spear guns and Hawaiian slings. Firearms cannot be brought into Turks and Caicos without written consent from the Commissioner of Police. Controlled drugs and pornography are illegal.
Driving
Like most islands in the Caribbean, driving on the left side is customary. Valid driver’s licenses are acceptable for vehicle rentals, and a flat tax of $15 is required for all rentals.
Communications
Turks and Caicos enjoys worldwide telephone and Internet access in the developed regions. Public phones can be operated by phone cards and other mediums such as fax machines, telexes and cellular phones can be rented or used in the hotels. Many cellular companies feature International Roaming and have roaming agreements with Caribbean destinations, allowing you to make and receive calls while on the Islands.
Electricity
Turks and Caicos uses the U.S. standard of 120/240 Volts/60 Cycles.
Airports
Turks and Caicos has 3 International Airports: Grand Turk, Providenciales and South Caicos. Entrance into the Islands will be through Providenciales, and commuter flights to the remaining islands are readily available. Guest traveling to resorts provided by All Inclusive Outlet should select Providenciales as their arrival airport.
Pets
Turks and Caicos places no restrictions on bringing domesticated pets to the Islands. However, all pets must have current vaccinations and required documents for International travel.

Climate
The average temperature from June to October ranges between 85 and 90 degrees. From November to May the average temperature is 80 to 84 degrees. This is mixed with a constant breeze from the trade winds for a virtually perfect climate. Annual rainfall is around 21 inches on Grand Turk and South Caicos. Islands further west experience annual rainfall of up to 40 inches. The hurricane season usually runs between June and October.
Language
English is the official language of the Turks and Caicos.
Government
Turks and Caicos is a British Crown Colony. An Executive Council holds executive power and is appointed by the queen. Local government is headed by a Chief Minister, which also comprises several other ministers and a legislative council able to enact statutes. The Judicial Branch is headed by a Chief Justice, Chief Magistrate and three Deputy Magistrates that follow British Common Law.
History
The exciting history of Turks and Caicos began with a series of early establishments by the Taino, Lucayan and Bermudan peoples. Unknown forces combined with enslavement and imported disease eventually diminished these civilizations and left them under the influence of British, French and Spanish rule. The Bermudans emerged as the natives of the Islands and thrived in the 17th century through slavery, cotton and salt trade. Increasing competition within the industries led to deterioration of the soil and a hurricane in 1813 wiped out the remaining plantations. Turks and Caicos is now counted as a British Crown Colony and has emerged as a premium destination for exotic beaches, world-renowned diving and leisure travel.

Necessary Documents:
- Passport
- Original Birth Certificate
- Proof of Status- If single, a sworn affidavit is required. If divorced, proof of Decree Absolute is required. Original or notarized copy, sealed by the Clerk of the Court is acceptable. Widow/Widowers need the Death Certificate of the previous spouse.
- If there’s been a name change by Deed Poll or Adoption, proof is required.
- Letters from both parties stating: occupation, marital status, age, present address and father’s full name.
Restrictions:
- A residency period of 1 Day (24-hours) is required before application for a Marriage License can be submitted to the Registrar in Grand Turk. The ceremony can occur any time after approval of the application, which is usually a period of 2-3 days. The person completing the forms must present all original documents to the Registrar.
- The marriage must be solemnized by a registrar of Marriage Officer (usually the Registrar General for Special Licenses) who is entitled to payment of reasonable traveling expenses if the marriage takes place somewhere other than his usual place of business.
- Parties must not be in prohibited degree of relationship to one another.
- For church weddings, many ministers require proof of membership.
