Nathan , St. Paul/MN Visted resort between 06/25/2008 and 07/07/2008 The Allegro Nuevo Occidental Grand All-Inclusive resort was a pleasant stay. First and foremost, the beach is amazing. If you have stayed in Puerto Vallarta previously or have not been there yet, I highly recommend staying in the "Nuevo Vallarta" section vs. Puerto Vallarta itself. The beaches are much nicer (no rocks) and undertows are non-existent. Additionally, Nuevo Vallarta is the most wealthy section of Puerto Vallarta which brings class to the area. The resort itself is a typical Mexican all-inclusive resort. For budget-minded travelers, the resort will meet your expectations (great ocean views from most rooms, airconditioned rooms, hot water, friendly/cordial service, cleanliness, etc.). For those expecting 5+ star accomodations, you will be a bit disappointed. Expected upgrades to this property are reportedly occurring in late 2008 or early 2009 which will raise the bar to the "asthetic" of the lodging, larger pool, etc. I enjoyed this property for the price paid. The property sits on one of the best stretches of beach I have seen in Puerto Vallarta. Cab rides to the center of Puerto Vallarta range from 15-20 US, the airport it about 12 US. Wish List for this resort: Wireless internet or internet stations, working exercise equipment in fitness center (very small fitness center-tredmill, bike and free weights-no air conditioning), alarm clocks in rooms, designated adult and children swim hours, cocktail servers on beach.
