NOT accomdating for adult couples. Shuttle to the Golden Parnassus only every hour until 10 p.m. Adult pool-poor bartender--no umbrellas/no food available. Had to go to children's area to get snacks. No activities for adults at the adult pool. Needed some good music...60's/70's/80's/90's. A social director for the adults only. When you did have Casino night for adults on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Karoake Bar--Children were running around and when asked to leave -- refused. Should have had Casino night at the Atlantis bar {adults only}. Check-in was a nightmare...we were not able to get into our room until after 5 p.m. No one told us about Guest Services...we had to ask finally. We seem to have wasted a full day. Staff was not happy except for the maid. TOO MANY UNRULY CHILDREN...SCREAMING!!!! Children were very loud even in the early mornings approximately 6 a.m. and until after midnight ...if you wanted to have a drink in the lobby bar. Even at the restaurants. I can't tell you how aggravating it was to try to have a conversation and constantly hear screaming children. We would loved to return to Cancun but are very unsure at this time. Someone should have suggested we go to the Golden Parnassus since we were all adults and celebrating special occasions. No one offered that to us at the time of arrival. Just made us wait in the lobby. We kept on checking to see if our rooms were ready and was told every half-hour "Maybe in 30 minutes". However, our suitcases were tagged for 5 p.m. by the bellman. The entire time spent in Cancun was so very disappointing to all of us. We understand you seem to caterer to families with lots of children but even the adult areas were very limited. The restaurant on the second floor for adults only was only for SPECIAL MEMBERS. So it was impossible to eat without children running around or screaming. I personally fell on premises by the pool area where the food was served on Saturday. Very embarrassed and unnecessary...secondary to a step I did not see because of a small child running in front of me. SUGGESTIONS: When adults booked at this hotel; they should be made aware that the hotel is only geared to families with children and there are very limited areas for adults and very little entertainment for adults. The shuttle needs to be expanded to every 30 minutes and a later last departure from the Golden Parnassus than 10 p.m. The adult activities start at 9 p.m. So each night we had to take a taxi back to the hotel. And if the shuttle was full we also took a taxi to the Golden Parnassus as to not waste another hour in the mornings. We need to also tell you we have children and grandchildren who are very well-behaved; so it seemed incredible that parents/children could be so rude. The Golden Parnassus staff was so very happy to do anything for their guests. They appeared very happy. Always greeting us whether it was for breakfast/lunch/dinner or drinks. The bartender at the pool bar at the Golden Parnassus was excellent. He was very entertaining along with his speed in serving drinks and always remembering what each individual drank. It was a pleasure to be at the Golden Parnassus. We understand it is an older hotel but evidently the staff is well-seasoned in hospitality etiquette to the clientale. The hotel theme of the Great Parnassus was a good idea but no one took into consideration the fact that everything echoes throughout the interior of the building.
