Those Jamaicans sure do drive crazy. We got a champagne toast upon arrival. After about a half hour wait we got our room on the Beachfront clothing side. (This resort has an au naturel side) The room was nicely appointed. We did think the beach was pretty nice also. The sand is a little more course than powdered white sand that we have seen on other beaches. We toured the facility and then went to the swim-up pool bar for drinks. That evening they had a street party with a reggae calypso band. The food stations and grills were setup all over the town square area. The entertainment was good and we hung out and listened to the band for awhile after eating. This is the resort's big party night. We were a little tired and went to bed. The rest of our vacation consisted of getting up late, going to the beach, doing some watersports, drinking lots of pina coladas and other frozen drinks, and relaxing. At night, Grand Lido has a show, the piano bar and disco on most nights. It is not the wildest place to vacation but the offerings were good for what we wanted. The staff, from maintenance to management, went out of their way to make sure we were always enjoying ourselves. The Divemaster, Peter Thompson, was spectacular! Not having dived in 20 years I was a bit hesitant but he made me feel so comfortable as he checked out my basic skills in the pool before the first dive. AFter that we dove every day and the sights at 30 to 60 feet were unbelievable - rays, turtles, lobsters, scorpion fish, conch, eels, Peter pointed them all out with his expert talent for recognizing them in their natural setting. The food was excellent, the nightlife, the natural side, the rest of the guests - all very sociable - the watersports all included - no one would accept a tip! I cannot say enough about how pleased we both were and how much we are looking forward to going back! Show Intro Only
Accommodations
Grand Lido Braco features a separate au natural accommodation area on the left hand side of the resort facing the sea. Complete with au naturel pool and hot tub, this area is located in a secluded area for privacy. Guests staying in the remainder of the hotel may venture to this area if so desired. There are strict rules governing entry which are designed to protect the privacy of others.
